History

iLo was founded in 2006 to fill the need for a platform for artistic development in the Netherlands for professional lighting-designers, a local initiative with an international perspective.

Architects, directors, producers and other commissioners of projects highly estimate lighting as an important (and difficult!) part in their projects. Audiences love the experience when the production is intensified by lighting with a touch of the artistic.

Technical aspects of lighting can be found everywhere; the artistic part is seldom tought. Lighting design is still a profession 'by practice'. For creativity in lighting, light as a theatrical character, the illusionairy possibilities it has and the experience enhanced by light never had a platform like this.
